Parents counting the cost of sending children back to school in September can now benefit from a new reward scheme from Tesco and Schoolbooks.ie.

Tesco shoppers can now earn Clubcard points on every €1 which they can spend on the school book website.

A recent study by the Irish League of Credit Unions found that parents will spend an average of almost €400 per child on uniforms and books this September.

This means that a family with three school-going children could earn up to 1,200 Clubcard points which can then be redeemed against groceries.

The offer applies to goods bought both in store and online, or in Tesco petrol stations.

The points can also be used in some of Tesco's Clubcard partners which includes restaurants, tourist attractions around the country and even to pay off home energy bills from Bord Gáis.

"We wanted to help customers by giving parents an opportunity to earn additional Clubcard points during their schoolbook shopping," Tesco said.
