1940 Society is renamed Irish Permanent Building Society

1994 Irish Permanent is floated on the Dublin and London Stock Exchanges. The Irish private banking operation of Guinness & Mahon is acquired

1999 Merger between Irish Life and Irish Permanent

2001 TSB Bank bought from the Government

2002 TSB and Irish Permanent are integrated. Permanent TSB is launched

2011 Government bails out the group to the tune of €4bn, acquires 99pc stake

2012 Irish Life sold to State for €1.3bn

2014 PTSB fails ECB stress test

2015 Permanent TSB nears return to profitability and looks to attract private investors
