State backed lender Permanent TSB has confirmed the departure of chief operating officer, Toby Clements, and announced a string of senior organisational changes.

The bank said Toby Clements notified the group before Christmas that he plans to leave in the coming months.

“I was lucky enough to persuade Toby to return to Ireland from the UK when I joined the bank in 2012 and he has been a key part of my management team since then. He has made a fantastic contribution to the rebuilding of Permanent TSB and we are indebted to him,” group chief executive Jeremy Masding said.

The bank said a role of group director of operations is being created, along with a chief technology officer role.

Recruitment is underway for both jobs.

The bank said its distribution function is being changed to include Branch, Intermediaries, SME and Voice and Digital Sales.

Chief risk officer Stephen Groarke will also now represents Credit on the bank’s executive committee.
