Almost half of finance professionals would rather see tax cuts in the upcoming Budget rather than spending increases, according to a new study.
In a survey of 600 finance professionals conducted by ACCA Ireland, 43pc of those asked said that tax cuts should be the focus of any additional resources the Government has available to it.
The most cited tax for cuts was PAYE. Some 48pc of respondents listed this as their first priority and just over a third considered it to be their second priority. A reduced tax rate for the self-employed also featured very highly, with 37pc listing it as their first priority.
Head of ACCA Ireland Liz Hughes said: "The survey findings highlighted the issues that Irish businesses would like to see addressed, specifically those in relation to PAYE rates and the rates paid to the self-employed."
