TV3 wins six-figure deal to show Guinness birthday bash
Thursday August 13 2009
THE TV3 group has scooped a six-figure contract to act as the "lead broadcaster" for the upcoming "Guinness 250" celebrations.
The win is understood to have come at the expense of national broadcaster RTE, which pitched for at least some elements of the package.
Under the deal, TV3 will run promotions on its website, TV3 itself and sister channel 3e in the build-up to Guinness's 250th birthday on September 24th. The birthday itself is expected to be marked by extensive TV coverage, most likely on 3e.
"I can't confirm any of the specifics, but I can tell you that TV3 is working on a series of projects around the 'Guinness 250' celebrations", TV3 group commercial boss Pat Kiely said this week.
Exciting
"We have some very exciting plans," he said, adding that TV3 had already aired a "fly on the wall" documentary of the shooting of the latest Guinness ad, which also got its world premiere on 3e.
Buying for the campaign is being carried out by Dublin agency Initiative, which was also keeping "shtum" on the details this week.
