Things are positively blooming brilliantly at Tipp FM

Thursday March 19 2009

INTENT on keeping a smile on listeners faces during the recession, regional station Tipp FM is dedicating a morning slot to "good news" and is about to kick off a marketing campaign entitled "blooming brilliant".

"We're sick of doom and gloom and we're trying to lift the spirits of our listeners," says Tipp FM boss Ethel Power, formerly of Dublin Zoo and Ryanair.

The first step of the uplifting drive came with the recent launch of the "good news in Tipperary slot" at 9.20 every weekday morning.

"Our phones are hopping with listeners calling in to tell us their 'good news'," says Ms Power.

Next month, the radio station will launch a fresh ad campaign across Co Tipperary featuring eye-catching sun flowers under the banner "blooming brilliant".

"So many make the mistake of not advertising in a recession. At Tipp FM we're all guns blazing and this is the first of several billboard campaigns for Tipp FM for 2009," says Ms Power.

That dedication to advertising prompted Tipp FM to send its four-man sales force plus Ms Power to this week's Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB) conference in Orlando, on what she insists was a no-frills trip.
