Two of the country's biggest magazine publishers have agreed distribution deals with Independent News & Media's Newspread to handle business worth €7m a year.

Newspread - Ireland's leading wholesaler and distributor of indigenous newspapers and magazines - announced the renewal of the contracts with Harmonia and RTÉ yesterday. The contracts, with a combined retail sales value of €7m a year, are to distribute 10 million magazines to over 6,500 retailers across the country.

It covers titles including the RTÉ Guide, Irish Tatler, U Magazine, Woman's Way, Food and Wine Magazine, Irish Tatler Man, Irish Tatler Business, Ireland of the Welcomes, and the Woman's Way Cookbook.

As well as distribution, Newspread provides the publishers with access to real-time information on how each title is performing. Newspread is also the exclusive wholesaler for the majority of leading daily, Sunday and provincial newspapers in Ireland.

"With the benefit of over 40 years in the business, we have built very strong relationships with all the key retail groups around the country. We are pleased to announce the renewal of these distribution contracts with Harmonia and RTÉ for the 20th year," said Newspread chief executive Ian Keogh.

"The RTÉ Guide continues to be a staple in Irish homes, and a fast and efficient distribution service is an important element in getting it there," said Willie O'Reilly, group commercial director at RTÉ.

Newspread distributes an extensive range of products from its facility in Park West, Dublin.
