Currently the Assistant News Editor of the Irish Independent, she is a graduate of Dublin City University.

From Tullow, Co Carlow, Louise also runs a drystock farm and is undertaking an Advanced Certificate in Agriculture with Teagasc.

INM Editor-In-Chief Stephen Rae said Farming Independent, the Irish Independent and Independent.ie play a vital role in covering agri-business, farming and rural affairs.

"Louise is well aware of the key issues facing the farming community today and how the industry is changing," he said.

Issues

Louise said the renewed confidence within the sector had opened up opportunities for farming families and agribusiness, and her new role would involve educating and informing people about these issues.

"Today's young farmers are not just out working the land - they are tech-savvy entrepreneurs who are running thriving businesses," she said.
