Irish shows help boost TV3 Group viewership
Viewership figures for TV3 Group channels increased by more than a fifth in the first three months of this year compared with the same period in 2016.
Figures released yesterday by TAM/Nielsen for the January to March period showed that the TV3 channel itself accounted for a 34pc increase.
The station said this was helped by the return of TV3's originated content including 'Red Rock', 'Gogglebox Ireland' and 'Pat Kenny Tonight'.
TV3 Group director of programming, Bill Malone, said that the viewership figures were being driven by homegrown content.
"It is heartening to see that much of TV3's success is being driven by quality Irish production from 'Ireland AM' through to 'The Restaurant', 'Gogglebox Ireland' and 'Red Rock'," Mr Malone said.
"Our strong performance in the first quarter will be boosted further by new programming in the coming months."
3e also grew its share of viewing in the quarter from 2.5pc to 3.2pc.
TV3 Group's new channel be3 recorded a 2.4pc share of viewing for the quarter.
