Long-time editor of the Irish Examiner Tim Vaughan is leaving the newspaper to join a Cork based technology company.

Newsweaver, which describes itself as a global leader in internal communications, has appointed Tim Vaughan as its Head of Content and Corporate Communications.

Mr Vaughan had been editor of the Examiner since 2001.

Commenting on his appointment, he said he was looking forward to joining Newsweaver at a very exciting time in the company's development.

"This is a great new challenge and I'm really looking forward to being part of Newsweaver's ambitious plans for expansion," he said.

Newsweaver works with largest corporations, providing software to ease communications with large numbers of employees. Its clients include Rolls-Royce, LinkedIn, Experian, Vodafone, and Aon Hewitt, among several other FTSE and Fortune 1000 companies.

The company was established by Andrew O’Shaughnessy in Cork in 1996. Last year it announced the expansion of its workforce from 80 to 140.
