Former INM chief executive Liam Healy passes away

THE death has occurred of Liam Healy, former chief executive and non-executive deputy chairman at Independent News & Media (INM).
Mr Healy passed away peacefully this morning at the Royal Hospital, Donnybrook, Dublin 4 after a long illness - he was 86.
He is survived by his wife Eithne and children Eoin, Orla and Ciara.
A long-standing executive at INM, Mr Healy was CEO for nine years and also held the role of non-executive deputy chairman.
He retired from the board of INM in 2008.
Leslie Buckley, chairman INM, paid tribute to Mr Healy and his work at INM.
"It is with great sadness that we have learned today of the sad passing of Liam Healy after a long illness.
"Under Liam, INM’s titles flourished and held the dominant positions in the respective national daily and Sunday newspaper markets."
He added that Mr Healy also significantly expanded the group’s footprint in regional titles across the country.
"On behalf of the board and the editorial and management staff, I extend our sincerest condolences to his wife Eithne and to his family,” he added.
