It is understood that DoneDeal beat off competition from a number of well-known brands to ink the estimated €500,000 deal. The multi-platform sponsorship deal will include broadcast sponsorship of The X Factor and The Xtra Factor, ownership of all digital elements of The X Factor on, 3player and major activation elements, on-air, online, on mobile and through social media platforms.

Growth in the ad market is expected to be in excess of 5pc next year but within this sponsorship and other "non-spot" advertising activities are expected to break into double-digit growth into 2015, according to TV3 Commercial director Pat Kiely. This is fastest growing revenue area of the broadcaster. TV3 launched its autumn schedule last week as it seeks to fight off the arrival of UTV Ireland, which launches next year.
