MEDIA & MARKETING: Advertisers get a seat on Ryanair's popular website
Thursday July 14 2005
ADVERTISERS will for the first time be able to access Ryanair's 20m website users per month, following a deal with online advertising company LM Media, a subsidiary of Lastminute.com.
Up until now the only companies which got a spot on the low-cost airline's website were affiliate companies, such as car hire firms, which had exclusive deals with Ryanair.
Ryanair's head of advertising and ancillary revenue, Santina Doherty, said that the company was currently doing a trial with third parties with a view to getting the site audited.
Said Ms Doherty: "This deal with LM Media means Ryanair can concentrate on what it does best - selling the lowest air fares in Europe while ensuring Ryanair.com's huge revenue potential is maximised."
The vast majority (98pc) of 35m flights booked with the airline are done through the website and, with the company expecting this to grow 20pc annually, the potential audience will grow significantly in the coming years.
