Gift company Smartbox has announced 100 jobs at its Dublin office, where it already employs 400 people.

The group, headed by CEO John Perkins, pictured, is undertaking a significant R&D project in Dublin, with the focus on creating a state-of-the-art information system, Smartbox said.

As a result of this project, it is out to enhance its technology team and it is actively recruiting skilled candidates including systems engineers, front and back end developers, BI and Data analysts, sales force and DevOps engineers.

The group, which in 2016 sold 6.5 million vouchers in Europe, has also added a further 2,000 sq ft of office space to accommodate the staff.

The news was welcomed by the IDA and Minister for Jobs Mary Mitchell O'Connor, who described it as "a great success story".

"I am confident that the company will go from strength to strength and that it will find the required skills from our talented workforce," she said.
