Weston scoops personal finance journalist award

The Irish Independent's Charlie Weston was the winner of the 'best personal finance journalist' award at the Irish Brokers' Association's inaugural Life, Pensions and Investments Awards event.

The awards were organised by the IBA to ensure that those at the forefront of the financial services industry were recognised for their expertise and the critical advice they give to clients.

The 'best life and pensions broker' award went to Opportune Trust, the 'best investment broker' was McCarthy Insurance Group, the 'best Leinster broker' award went to Planalife. Other winners included Complete Financial, John F Loughrey Financial Services, IFG Private Clients, and AON Hewitt Solutions. IFG was named 'best overall broker'.

The lifetime achievement award went to Owen Morton, of Moneywise, Dublin.
