The deal will see United Drug provide cash support and medical supplies to the games, while the drug firm's employees will also volunteer at the event. "This is an exceptional opportunity for us to contribute to the success of the games and the celebration of Ireland's talented athletes," said Mr FitzGerald.

Special Olympics Ireland fundraising and sponsorship manager Ciara Tallon, meanwhile, says the support of United Drug and other firms "will go a long way to ensuring that the 2010 Special Olympics Ireland Games are a huge success".
