Unemployment rate drops to 11.9pc in February - CSO

THE standardised unemployment rate fell to 11.9pc in February, down from 2pc the previous month, new figures from the Central Statistics Office show.

On a seasonally adjusted basis the Live Register total recorded a monthly decrease of 2,500 in February, reducing the seasonally adjusted total to 398,300

In unadjusted terms there were 398,069 people signing on the Live Register in February 2014.  This represents an annual decrease of 30,807 or 7.2pc.

The standardised unemployment rate in February 2014 was 11.9pc, down from 12pc in January 2014. 

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate from the most recent Quarterly National Household Survey (QNHS) was 12.1pc in the fourth quarter of 2013.
