Glanbia, Ryanair, Smurfit Kappa, CRH and Aer Lingus are among the contenders for this year's Published Accounts Awards to be presented by the Chartered Accountants Leinster Society.

The awards, sponsored by the Irish Stock Exchange, aim to recognise companies that have excelled at delivery and presentation of their financial information.

A total of 27 firms and organisations have made the shortlists. Among large quoted companies, there are eight groups shortlisted. In the small and medium-sized quoted company category there are five nominations, including ferry group Irish Continental and UTV. Greencore and Grafton Group are also nominated in the category.

The awards also recognise large, unquoted groups. In that category, the Dublin Airport Authority, the ESB and NTR are among the five nominations.
