TAOISEACH Enda Kenny has met the Opposition to discuss how to progress the stalled investigation into a series of transactions at the former Anglo Irish Bank.
It’s understood Mr Kenny told Opposition leaders that he will furnish them with the draft heads of a bill being devised to address a series of concerns raised by Judge Brian Cregan.
Judge Cregan warned that he does not the necessary powers to properly investigate IBRC transactions. He also raised serious concerns about confidentiality.
He met opposition leaders separately about the issue this evening,
In a statement, Social Democrats TD Catherine Murphy said she finds it hard to believe that the Government “are serious about addressing the very significant concerns raised about IBRC and Siteserv”.
“There was a lot of blame deflection from the Taoiseach and he refused to comment on whether or not the Attorney General had flagged these issues,” the Kildare TD said.
