Summer is over at Brown Thomas as retailer launches Christmas market

While most are still enjoying the last days of summer, Brown Thomas have just launched their Christmas market - over four months before Christmas day.
The upmarket retailer launched their Christmas market yesterday, despite the continued warm and humid conditions in Dublin.
But summer is well and truly over at the stores as their festive offerings are known for being visually spectacular – even if they are appearing a little too early for most.
Brown Thomas stores are always among the most ostentatiously decorated around Christmas time.
However the decorations may come as a surprise to shoppers who are still clinging to dreams of heatwaves and sun-cream.
Brown Thomas managing director Stephen Sealey said that the Christmas festivities begin early in the store for good reason, with “trees and decorations selling out as early as October.”
"The Christmas Market opens at the same time every year due to customer demand.
"In August last year, 3,000 units of Christmas decorations sold within the first three days of opening the Christmas Market. Our customers know to expect the launch of the Christmas Market in August each year.”
Edel Woods, Group Buyer at Brown Thomas said the store is renowned for having the most beautiful decorations around.
“We take pride in sourcing the finest decorations and festive adornments for the home including musical carousels and Christmas scenes which can be passed down through generations of family,” she said.
“This year we are very excited to announce that we have developed an exclusive Brown Thomas collection of luxurious embellished decorations. This bespoke collection will include beautiful hanging stars, bejewelled baubles, glittering pinecones and sparkling poinsettias.”
For Brown Thomas, Christmas is a year-long event. The buying team at the stores have been seeking exclusive pieces since as early as last January for their Christmas market.
This year’s ‘themes’ are Venetian Chic, Winter Palace, Yule Tide and the Nutcracker Suite.
Model Sarah Morrissey was at the Brown Thomas store to launch their Christmas market yesterday.
Morrissey is one of Ireland’s most recognisable top models. The Dubliner announced last May that she is expecting her first child with her footballer husband Pat Jennings.
She said on Twitter at the time that they were “beyond thrilled” to be expecting their first child.
Despite the warm and humid climate yesterday, Morrissey was photographed posing next to a Christmas tree in a floral knee-length dress.
