SMT to establish European headquarters in Ireland, creating 50 jobs

Sahajanand Medical Technologies is to establish its European headquarters in Ireland, creating 50 new jobs over the next five years.

The Indian-based firm manufactures coronary stent systems and supplies to around 60 countries across Europe, Asia, Middle East and North Africa (MENA), and Latin America.

The company will also establish a state-of-the-art research and development centre at its new Galway headquarters.

SMT western Europe head Gauray Goel said the firm are "pioneers" at identifying good value in investing in good research and development opportunities.

"Our core strength lies in our ability to excel in developing technologically complex products through focused teams.  With this centre, we hope to tap into the excellent talent pool available in Galway to make further enhancements in existing products and to develop new and innovative products," he said.
