Small fall in bank deposits covered by Government guarantee
THE five banks covered by the Government guarantees saw deposits fall by just 0.5pc last month, the Department of Finance said today.
Total deposits fell about €800m to €153bn in September, the Department of Finance said. Bank deposits rose 8pc to 11.1bn compared to the same month last year.
“The main driver of the decrease during September was softer volumes in corporate deposits and non-bank financial institutional deposit balances in both Ireland and overseas locations,” the Department added.
