HUNDREDS of top designers and craftspeople will be displaying their wares to buyers from around the world at the largest gift, fashion and interiors trade fair of the year.

More than 350 leading designers and craftspeople will be at Showcase, 'Ireland's Creative Expo', which runs from January 23-26 in the RDS.

Avoca, Tipperary Crystal, Genesis and Belleek are among the top names that will be joined by smaller, up-and-coming designers and craftspeople, including Max Benjamin Candles, McCul Clothing and Karen Morgan Ceramics.

More than €22m in sales orders is expected to be generated over the four days.

Organised by the Craft Council of Ireland, the fair will attract buyers from at least 17 countries. Thousands of retailers from around the country will also attend.

Brian McGee, head of market development at the crafts council, said that more than ever, retailers were seeking out innovative designs.

"We have a wealth of creative talent in this country and Showcase is where it is presented to the world," he said.
