Shoppers will be able to 'chill' in new store
WHILE most insurers are moving from the high street to the information super highway, online favourite Chill Insurance is gearing up to open an insurance 'shop' in the Pavilion Centre in Swords.
Chill Insurance chief executive Ann Moylan confirmed that the new store is set to open over the May bank holiday weekend, if the final elements of the fit-out are completed on time.
"It'll feel much more like a shop than an insurance office," Ms Moylan said. "People can pop in, get some advice or information, and then go about the rest of their shopping.
"It's not usual for people to come across an insurance presence when they're in a shopping centre, so it should get attention, and it will expose the brand to a much bigger market, people who have never heard of Chill before."
The new outlet will keep the same opening hours as the rest of the shopping centre, including late nights and weekends and will offer "exactly the same" pricing as chill.ie does online.
Chill is already eyeing up two other shopping centre sites in Dublin with a view to opening there "in the next 12 months" if the Swords project is a success.
"There are lots of empty units (in shopping centres) now, so we're lucky to be getting in (when rents are low)," she added.
News of the Chill shop comes two months after the insurer unveiled plans to hire another 100 staff over the next three years, bringing its total headcount to 160.
As well as its online offering, Chill also has a 40-year-old brokerage business in Blackrock, where the company's call centre is based.
Chill sells policies from more than 14 leading insurance companies encompassing everything from motor and travel insurance to health insurance and life insurance.
