Shell asked for pipeline changes on safety concerns
Tuesday November 03 2009
Shell has been asked by the planning authorities to alter part of a route of the proposed Corrib natural-gas pipeline in the west of the country on safety grounds.
“The proposal to route the pipeline at a proximity distance from dwellings which is within the hazard range of the pipeline should a failure occur is unacceptable,” the Planning Board said in a letter to the company published on its website.
The board said its “provisional” view is that the pipeline should be approved if changes are made to the plan.
