Settlement offer in cinema dispute

The High Court heard yesterday that an offer had been made on behalf of the Ward family to settle winding up proceedings which had been brought by the Anderson family in a bid to end the deadlocked dispute which arose over a proposal to open new cinemas in St Stephen's Green Shopping Centre.



The two families own the Savoy and Screen in Dublin's city centre along with Omniplexes in Santry and Cork and another cinema in Tullamore, Co Offaly.

Kylemore profits rise 47pc in year

Catering firm Kylemore made a €1m operating profit in the 12 months to the end of March 2012, a 47pc rise on the previous year.

Turnover at the group, which is jointly owned by DCC and the Hogan family, rose nearly 30pc to €39.1m. Kylemore provides contract catering services to clients at 80 locations in Ireland and operates a chain of 11 casual dining retail restaurants.

€35m distillery for Tullamore

William Grant & Sons Ltd, the owner of Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey, has received planning permission from Offaly County Council for its new, state-of-the-art pot still whiskey and malt whiskey distillery in Tullamore town.

The €35m distillery will be developed on a 69-acre site at Ballard and Clonminch on the outskirts of Tullamore, bringing whiskey production back to the town for the first time since the original distillery closed in 1954.
