The late Pat Mulcair set up civil engineering group Roadbridge in 1967 and it grew to become one of the largest infrastructural builders in the country.

It was contracted to build the M17 Gort to Tuam motorway, due for completion in November this year, with a contract value of 330m. The company made an operating profit of 7m in 2015, a jump from 1.5m the previous year. The company, which employs about 400 staff, is run for the Mulcair family by brothers Des (51) and James (55).
