Low-key Westport brothers Cathal (64), Harry (62) and Owen Hughes (60) own the Portwest workwear business, which generated 12.8m in profits last year as sales rose. In February, they were revealed to have bought Westport House and pledged to invest 50m in the project which will create 200 jobs for the local area.

The Hughes family also own the 129-room, four-star Hotel Westport and a retail business. Two other brothers, Vincent and Pat, own the popular Carraig Donn clothes and giftware chain, which announced plans to open new shops in Cork and Westmeath late last year.
