A former Fine Gael Attorney General and EU Commissioner, Sutherland is one of Ireland's most influential businessmen. Gonzaga-educated Sutherland also chaired BP and sat on the board of RBS before it was rescued by the British taxpayer. Sutherland served as chairman of Goldman Sachs International and got a 0.52pc stake of the firm when it floated in 1999. Its share price is up by over 60pc in the last year, although Sutherland has sold tranches of shares over the years. He is also an adviser to the Vatican on its finances. He has homes in Dublin, London and Andalucia.
