Legendary poker player Noel Furlong gets most of his wealth from his Kildare-based flooring and carpet business, which made a profit of 8m last year, up nearly 12pc on the 7.3m recorded in 2014. Revenues are well over 100m. Furlong (79) won the World Poker Championships in 1999 (pictured), claiming a $1m first prize. It wasn't his only big gambling win. He was said to have won well over 2.5m from a giant punt on his own horse, Destriero, at Cheltenham in 1992.
