Businessman Leslie Buckley made his name as a restructuring expert working with companies such as Waterford Crystal plc, Irish Steel plc and Aer Lingus. A close of associate of Denis O'Brien, he is estimated to have made 10m from the sale of Esat to BT in 2000 and 70m from his interests in Digicel.

He owned 25pc of Saongroup, which invested heavily in a Chinese recruitment business, before being sold. The chairman of INM, publishers of this newspaper, he is also co-founder with his wife Carmel of the Haven charity.
