Joseph Higgins made about 60m when selling his turnkey computer cabinet manufacturing firm in the 1990s, ploughing the windfall into commercial property. The Galwayman's Coltard company — controlled via the Isle of Man — owns the Dún Laoghaire Shopping Centre. Higgins owns Gerrardstown Stud in Meath and at one time had 20 horses trained by Dermot Weld and John Oxx.
