Co Tipperary-born Ronan was one of the first big property developers to refinance his way out of Nama. He was one of the best known developers of the boom, with his projects including the Treasury Holdings building Central Park and the National Convention Centre. His Ronan Property Group had assets of 850m and debts of 330m in 2008 before values crashed, according to his statement to the banking enquiry. He is now rebuilding his empire.
Last October Ronan received the green light for a 200m office block development at Ballsbridge in Dublin that will have the capacity to accommodate 2,200 workers. He is also developing a small hotel on Grafton Street among other things.
