Emmy-nominated actress Roma Downey (55) was born on the Bogside in Derry, before swapping the rain for the bright lights of Hollywood. She was a highly-successful TV actress - most notably starring in schmaltzy soap opera Touched by an Angel.
Her husband Mark Burnett, a former British paratrooper, developed ratings smashing shows such as The Apprentice, The Voice and Survivor. He sold a chunk of his company to Hearst in 2012, valuing the operation at €480m. MGM later bought a 55pc stake for $353m in late 2014 before buying the remaining shares late last year. Downey and Burnett may have made €120m from the last transaction. There were also fees and dividends of close to €200m.
The couple are strongly religious and scored a massive hit with their TV adaptation of the Bible, which was seen by a staggering 100m viewers. They live in a sprawling 7,300-square foot beachside house in Malibu.
