Waterford meat barons Peter (76) and John Queally (78) set

up Dawn Meats with their partner Dan Browne more than 25 years ago. It is now one of

the biggest privately owned

meat- and agri-business groups

in Europe. Dawn has about

20pc of the Irish beef market as well as a major European presence.

Sales at their Arrow group rose 6pc to €443m, generating huge pre-tax profits of €23m. Family assets include a sewage treatment firm, the Glenpatrick Spring Water company, five-a-side football pitches, pet foods and commercial property.
