Paris-based Donnelly is a successful property investor.

A former bookie, he sold his business for about €27m in the 1990s and has traded commercial buildings since then, making a fortune from one building on the Champs Elysses in Paris. Along with wife Marie, Donnelly is a serious art collector with works by Picasso, Matisse, De Kooning, Eileen Gray and Georg Baselitz, many of which were housed in a modernist gallery beside their house on the exclusive Vico Road in Dalkey. Joe is thought to have bought a large hotel and retail block in Cork last year.
