Aviation financier Slattery (49) made €32m when selling his Avolon business to the Chinese for €1.2bn just five years after setting it up. He'll have been massively well paid too. Slattery worked as a PA to the legendary Tony Ryan before setting up his first aviation business International Aviation Management, which he sold to RBS for €45m in 2001. He then had a badly-timed foray into private equity with Claret Capital, which didn't end brilliantly.

The Clare man was caught up in a planning row last year over plans to build a vast holiday home overlooking the sea at Liscannor. He also has a pad on Ailesbury Road. Other assets include media and hotel playthings.
