O'Callaghan (63) and his family own 90pc of Cork-headquartered fuel importer and distributor Inver Energy, which has a 50pc stake in the Foynes oil terminal - Ireland's largest new terminal - as well as a huge operation in Cardiff.

There are 20 petrol stations too. The Glanmire man's company saw sales drop 17pc to €594m because of a "difficult" trading environment.
