Heraty (55), the first woman to run an Irish plc, saw her wealth spike on the back of a strong performance at her recruitment firm CPL. Along with husband Paul Carroll, she owns 40.7pc of the firm, worth €74m. Fees, rents from company offices owned by the couple and a share buyback scheme add more than €20m.

She was one of the backers of a €16m plan to build a Tall Ship to replace the Asgard II which sank off France. She has also become the biggest shareholder in a Trinity Care nursing home business as well as investing in south Dublin development sites and student accommodation.
