Retiring Bord Pleanala boss for IPI conference

The retiring chairman of Bord Pleanala, John O'Connor, will review his 11 years in charge of the country's planning appeals board when he addresses the Irish Planning Institute's (IPI) conference in Galway on May 5.
Mr O'Connor is expected to draw lessons for Irish planning in the future as well as looking back at his time at Bord Pleanala.
Delegates will also hear the first major address from the new Housing and Planning MInister Willie Penrose TD, who will give the opening speech.
Gordon Daly, president, IPI, said: "The time for the blame game is now over. We have to settle down to the task of reshaping, rebuilding and reimagining the country and strong innovative planning practices have a central role to play in that."
