Psychics Live move to monthly fee fails
The proposed club would charge users of the phone line service a monthly fee.
Decision
Businessman Tom Higgins, who runs Realm Communications, the company behind the astrology phone lines, is understood to be seeking legal advice on how he can challenge this latest decision against him.
The regulator is understood to have considered a number of international precedents before making its decision to turn down Realm's proposed new way of charging for access to its services.
Realm is already suing RegTel over the regulator's attempts to limit the company's business activities.
Premium phone lines regulator Pat Breen said he could not comment at this stage on either his recent decision or the impending High Court battle. Contacted in Spain last night, Mr Higgins also declined to comment on the nature of the court case.
However, in relation to Irish Psychics' proposed new pricing mechanism, Mr Higgins said: "It will change the entire industry, improve its image, and give better value to the consumer by charging less."
Mr Higgins is bidding to be Ireland's first space shuttle tourist along with Renault Ireland boss Bill Cullen on a new service backed by billionaire Richard Branson, called Virgin Galactica.
