A total of 1.284m music fans attended MCD gigs in Ireland last year and MCD boss Denis Desmond expect a similar performance this year.
According to trade industry journal, Pollstar, the numbers attending MCD gigs declined by 14pc from 1.49m in 2014 to 1.28m last year.
In an interview yesterday, Mr Desmond said: "The number of tickets sold in any year depends on the number of artists touring and that varies from year to year."
He said that taking into account the size of Ireland's population, "1.28m tickets sold - I'll take that, I'm happy with that".
Mr Desmond said that MCD ticket sales this year will be similar and maybe increase to 1.3m.
On 2016, Mr Desmond said that ticket sales are good and said that Kodaline and Beyonce, inset, will sell out their Dublin gigs.
