Profts at Irish arm of distribution giant DHL increase 10pc to €1.7m

Pre-tax profits at the Irish arm of international distribution giant DHL increased by 10pc to €1.74m last year.
The increase in pre-tax profit arises mainly from an exceptional pension gain of €2m.
Last year, revenues at DHL Express (Ireland) Ltd (DHLIL) increased by 5pc going from €76.5m to €80.2m.
The directors state that "the company's repositioning strategy initiated in 2009 has led to the successful turnaround from losses in 2010 to four consecutive years of profit thereafter."
Numbers employed by the firm increased from 324 to 327 with 176 employed in management and administration with 151 operational staff.
Staff costs increased by 4pc going from €17.82m to €18.58m.
The directors are listed as Bernard McCarthy, Michael Farrell and Philip Couchman and remuneration for directors last year increased from €616,000 to €672,000.
The profit last year takes account of non-cash depreciation costs of €861,000.
