Profits at Ashford Studios top €500,000
The Irish film studio where the hit series 'Vikings' is filmed recorded profits of over €500,000 last year.
That is according to the first set of accounts filed by Joe and Shelley O'Connell's Ashford Studios Ltd.
The accounts show that in the period from December 4, 2014 to December 31, 2015, the firm recorded profits of €507,503. The firm's cash at the end of last year totalled €1.5m.
The fifth series of 'Vikings' is being shot at the Co Wicklow studios.
The studio has a planning application before Wicklow County Council that, if successful, would significantly increase its capacity and cater for three or four productions at a time.
The proposed €90m expansion includes four new film studios of 40,000 sq ft each, a TV studio, offices, support space and visitor centre.
However, the plan is facing opposition from two local residents, Emily Hill and Sharon Hughes.
The Council has put the application on hold after requesting further information.
In its request, the planners state that the plan would be contrary to the principles of sustainable development.
