The vice-president of the Public Relations Institute of Ireland (PRII) has become the first-ever Irish person to be elected to the board of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management.

Justin Green said it was a "huge privilege" to be elected to the Global Alliance Board.

"The PRII was a founding member of the Alliance in 2000, but our Irish industry voice has never been previously represented at board level. The incoming board includes leading practitioners, academics and industry association leaders, with representation from every continent, and it is a huge privilege to be elected to the board to join them," he said.

The Global Alliance is the confederation of the world's major public relations and communication management associations and institutions, representing 160,000 practitioners and academics around the world.

Newly elected Chairman of the Global Alliance, Jose Manuel Velasco said that he was "delighted" that for the first time Ireland will be represented on Global Alliance Board by the PRII.

"The experience provided by PRII in the Public Relations and Communications’ field is going to be fundamental for Global Alliance to deliver to its members and the communications’ community an updated and relevant body of knowledge, that meet the needs and enhance the role of communicators in their communities in a local and global level," he said.
