Penneys plan for the 39th store

THERE may be a recession on, but it seems people will always need clothes -- and Penneys opened a new store in Killarney, Co Kerry, last week.

The cheap and cheerful clothing retailer plans to open a further 15 shops under the Primark name this year, including nine in Britain, four in Spain, one in Germany and one in Holland. It has 38 stores in Ireland.

Its revenue was up 15 per cent in the first six months of this year, recent results showed.
