Parcel Connect delivers one million packages
Parcel Connect, a company that allows customers to send, collect and return goods to their local store, has delivered its millionth package in two years.
The company says the value of goods transported is around €75m. Last year the firm achieved an average monthly growth rate of 8pc while over the course of the year use of its service increased by 60pc.
Chief executive officer Danny Hughes anticipates very strong growth this year.
"We have a clear road map that will see us average at least 50pc more parcels per week by Q3 2016 and as a result I'm very confident that we'll reach our two-millionth parcel before October next year."
Over Christmas demand for the service grew by 30pc while it nearly doubled in the week after Black Friday and Cyber Monday. "To have consistent month-on-month growth is a great achievement for us and we are particularly excited to see record volumes in online shopping deliveries," Mr Hughes said.
Parcel Connect is an Irish-born innovation set up through Fastway Couriers, a globally franchised courier company.
The service allows customers to send their deliveries to their local Payzone shop, meaning that they can avoid missing deliveries during office hours.
The firm has also created a workaround for UK companies that don't deliver to Ireland. Customers receive a virtual address that allows their package to be sent to a Northern Ireland depot and then sent to their Irish address.
