A company based at Dublin City University's Invent Centre has signed a six-figure, two- year deal with UK company Barratt Homes.

INSERO, which has developed a system which aims to improve health and safety standards on construction sites, said it is working with a number of large construction companies in the UK, the latest of which is Barratt Homes.

The solution, called SITEINTELL, uses the latest mobile technology, providing construction companies with handheld devices to scan ID cards belonging to workers coming onto a site. The handheld device displays the photo, contact details and health and safety credentials of the worker.

This information is then transmitted back to INSERO's website where it can be securely accessed from any location, the company said.

Anthony Byrne, business development director of INSERO, said: "SITEINTELL has grown into the industry's leading product for managing most of the important building processes on site.

"Reducing costs is vital within the construction sector and SITEINTELL has proven to reduce on-site admin costs by up to 40pc."
