Gala opened its European headquarters in the Digital Hub back in 2006.

Announcing the expansion, Tanaiste and Employment Minister Mary Coughlan said the move further embeds Gala's operations here.

Exciting

"Digital media is an exciting, emerging sector and one for which Ireland is gaining a strong reputation," she said.

"Gala is currently building a new worldwide gaming brand in an exciting and growing area in the games market."

Apart from providing free-to-play games on the internet, Gala offers web design and marketing services.

The online gaming market now accounts for more than 88pc of its business.

Gala Networks Europe chief executive Hyun Hur said Dublin's vibrant, multi-cultural society was one of the attractions for the company, as was support from the IDA.

He said that the expansion would give the company access to new markets.

"As part of our European expansion a number of new mandates will be added.

"This will include access to new markets, the introduction of three new game title releases and new language versions and the licensing of games from third-party game development companies," he said.

Mr Hur said the jobs were high-level positions in engineering and IT development.
