Online firm creates 50 jobs in Dublin

Monday May 24 2010

Around 50 jobs are to be created at an internet security firm, Enterprise Minister Batt O'Keeffe has announced.

US company Webroot is recruiting sales, marketing, engineering, inventory and customer support workers as it prepares to open its international headquarters in Ballsbridge, south Dublin.

The firm develops security solutions to protect corporate networks from web threats and help consumers download music, shop and search safely online.

Mr O'Keeffe said the jobs would be introduced over the next two years.

"Ireland has again demonstrated that it can out-perform our competitors in attracting high-growth international firms to hub here," he added.

"Clearly, our business environment and graduate skills set are important factors in drawing international players to locate in Ireland."

Webroot chief executive Dick Williams said the IDA-supported move was part of the firm's plans to build a world-class support organisation.

"Establishing an international headquarters in Ireland will give us access to top talent and enable us to expand our global footprint to become the best company in the world at delivering security as a service," he added.

Established in 1997, Webroot employs more than 400 people worldwide in the US, Western Europe, Japan and Australia.
